A bypass ring has a band that splits and curves past itself at the top rather than meeting at a single point or running as a continuous circle. The two ends of the band cross or overlap without joining, leaving an open gap between them. The bypass format creates movement and asymmetry that a standard band does not have — the ring reads differently depending on the angle.

This bypass is two-toned: a yellow gold split shank forms the base of the ring, and a curved white gold ribbon crosses over it at the top. The white gold ribbon is channel-set with round-cut diamonds running its length — diamonds flush between parallel gold rails, no prongs above the metal surface. The two metals serve distinct roles: yellow gold provides the structural shank; white gold carries the diamond line. The contrast between the warm yellow base and the cool white diamond ribbon is the design.
